Handcrafted Sterling Silver Ring with Natural Red Yemeni Agate
$399.00
A hand-forged ring in 925 sterling silver, set with a genuine red Yemeni agate, one of the most sought-after varieties of chalcedony, prized for the depth and warmth of its natural colour. The stone is completely undyed and untreated, carefully selected by hand and set in an open-back bezel, allowing light to pass through the stone and reveal its natural depth and translucency.
Each ring is individually forged by hand and finished to your specifications, making every piece naturally unique.

The Stone
Agate is chalcedony — silica laid down in slow bands inside a cavity in volcanic rock, a process measured in geological time rather than human time. Of all the deposits that produce it, the Yemeni highlands have long been considered the finest source of red material, and Yemeni agate has been traded out of that region for well over a thousand years.
What sets it apart is the colour. Where much red agate on the market owes its shade to dye, genuine Yemeni material carries its red naturally — a deep, saturated wine-red that comes from iron within the stone itself, not from anything added to it. The stone in this ring is undyed. Turn it towards a window and it lights from within, the red opening to show the faint banding that only natural chalcedony has; turn away and it settles back to a darker, quieter tone. That movement between the two is something a treated stone cannot imitate, and it is the first thing anyone who knows agate will look for.
Each stone is chosen by hand at the bench, and the ring is then built around it — never the other way round.
A Stone With Two Kinds of Value
For collectors, Yemeni agate is simply one of the great varieties of chalcedony: hard-wearing at 7 on the Mohs scale, unusually consistent in colour, and increasingly difficult to source in good grades. It takes a high polish, it does not scratch easily, and it ages well. Worn daily for a decade, it looks much as it did on the first day.
For those who wear it as part of their faith, the stone carries something further. Aqiq Yamani holds a particular place in Islamic tradition — named in the narrations, worn on the hand for fourteen centuries, and passed between generations as a quiet mark of belief rather than display.
We do not think these two readings compete. A stone can be admired for what it is and valued for what it means, and most of the people who wear ours hold both at once.
The Silver
The bezel and shank are forged in 925 sterling silver at the bench. Nothing here is poured into a mould and polished up afterwards — the metal is worked, shaped, and finished by hand, which is why the ring has the weight and the crispness at the edges that cast silver never quite manages.
The shoulders carry a hand-chased pattern. The bezel is left open at the back, in the way fine gemstone rings have always been made: light enters the stone from beneath and passes through it, so the agate is lit rather than merely displayed. A closed setting would show you the surface of the stone. An open one shows you the stone itself — and lets you see it from both sides.
Small variations in the silverwork are the signature of a piece made by one pair of hands rather than by a machine. They are not flaws. They are the reason the ring cannot be duplicated exactly, even by the person who made it.
Made For You, Not For Stock
We do not keep finished rings on a shelf waiting for a buyer. When you place an order, your ring is built from that point forward — the shank forged to your measurement, the setting shaped to seat your particular stone, the finish worked to your preference.
This matters more than it sounds. Buying a ready-made ring means accepting the closest available size and hoping a jeweller can stretch or cut it later without spoiling the line of the band. Buying one that is built for you means the proportions are right from the beginning.
It also means the piece can be made genuinely yours:
- Sized precisely to your measurement, not rounded to the nearest fit
- Inscriptions inside the band — a name, a date, a verse, a prayer
- Adjustments to band width, shoulder profile, or the weight of silver
- A brighter polish or a darker oxidised finish, whichever you prefer
- The stone itself selected to your brief, if you have a particular depth of colour in mind
Tell us what you have in mind when you order, or write to us beforehand. We will tell you honestly what the silver will allow and what it will not — some things that sound straightforward are not, and we would rather say so at the start than disappoint you at the end.
Most personalisation is included in the price as it stands. Where a request calls for significantly more silver, more time at the bench, or a stone sourced specifically to your brief, there may be an additional cost. We will always quote you before any work begins, and you are free to decline.
Living With It
Sterling silver darkens over time. This is oxidation, not damage, and many owners come to prefer it — the pattern on the shoulders reads more clearly once the recesses have deepened. If you would rather keep it bright, a soft cloth every few weeks is enough.
The agate itself needs very little. Keep it away from harsh household chemicals and remove the ring before heavy work, and it will outlast you.
What Arrives
Your ring is delivered in a Rezvaniq presentation box, ready to give or to wear.
Every piece leaves our workshop the same way it has since 2014: forged by hand, checked by eye, and sent out under our own name.
